Monsters can be evolved from Rare and above. Typically, you will need 2 of the same monster and 5 specials of the same element to evolve (Rock, Fire, Leaf, Water, or Wind).

Perfect Evolution is also said to be worth doing, this involves maxing every monsters stats before evolving. This will result in the highest MAX stats for that monster.
